SECTION 1

 GLOSSARY AND DEFINITIONS

In the Distribution Code, unless the context otherwise requires definitions of various terms are as under:-

Act                                     Electricity Regulatory Commission Act, 1998

Apparatus                         All equipment and instruments connected to the Electrical Distribution System.

A.C.D                                Advance Consumption Deposit

Area of Supply                  Geographical area of Himachal Pradesh

Break Down                     An occurrence relating to equipment of supply system, which prevents its normal functioning.

Bulk Supply                     A consumer to whom electricity is provided and who has a dedicated feeder to supplying electrical energy at 11 kV or above.

Connection Point             A point at which a users plant and/ or apparatus is connected to HPSEBs   Distribution System.

Connection Agreement     An agreement between STU and a agency setting out the   terms relating to the connection and/or use of the Transmission System.

Connected load                 Connected load means the sum of the rated capacities of all the energy consuming apparatus at the consumer's installation.  This shall not include the stand by or spare energy consuming apparatus installed through the change-over switch provided requisite prior permission has been accorded by the competent authority.

Contract Demand             shall mean the maximum demand for which the consumer has entered into an agreement with the Board.

Consumer                         Any person supplied with electrical energy on a temporary or permanent basis by the HPSEB either as owner or  lawful occupier of premises which are for the time being connected to the HPSEBs system and includes the consumer whose supply connections, not with standing the subsistence of agreement, has been disconnected for the time being.
